Dear Friend of FMT,

Sonya Taylor

It is with great sadness that Felixstowe Musical Theatre announces the death of Sonya Taylor.  Sonya played a key role in FMT's history and directed multiple musicals, pantos and revues over several decades. She lived and breathed musical theatre throughout her life and was the pinnacle standard that we all strived to achieve.  She leaves behind a massive hole in our hearts and will be sadly missed by all her loving friends and family.

Sonya's funeral will take place at 12.45 on Monday 20th September at the Seven Hills Crematorium in Nacton.  Sonya asked that no black is worn at the funeral, but to wear pink, or bright colours, if pink is not possible.  Family flowers only please and any donations can be sent to St Elizabeth Hospice.

sony condolance

Yours faithfully,
The Felixstowe Musical Theatre Committee

An Important Announcement

After very careful consideration, FMT
are very sad to announce that this
Performance will not now take place.

COVID-19 restrictions mean that,
by the time the show could be presented,
the whole purpose of its content would
have long since passed us by.

We look forward to be in a position to
announce a new production shortly
after our next AGM.

Thank you for your loyalty and patience.

Zena Bamberger

It is with great sadness that we have to report that our wonderful vice president Zena Bamberger passed away recently.

Zena was paramount in setting up the very start of Felixstowe Musical Theatre back in 1967.  Initially, FMT was formed by a group of like-minded people wishing to undertake amateur dramatics and meetings took place in a local school. Felixstowe Musical Theatre is still an active Amateur Dramatic society based in Felixstowe and has been performing for over 50 years. Zena performed in many shows over the years, undertaking a number of roles including Chair and Vice President. Zena will be greatly missed and was a pivotal person in our theatre group. Rest in Peace Zena with love from all in FMT.

A Message from Your Secretary

Dear Friend / Member of FMT,

I hope that you are safe and well.

Just to bring you up to date with matters from Felixstowe Musical Theatre.   We were disappointed that we were unable to put on our production of 'Bless Em All' at the Spa Pavilion in May this year, however, all being well, we hope to put this production on at the Spa on 8th May 2021.  The theatre is due to open again from October so we will be keeping a close eye on developments over the next few months.

We were hoping to have our AGM during the Autumn this year, however after several committee meetings over Zoom call, weighing up the possibilities of either holding the AGM on a Zoom call or looking at the chances of booking a room and meeting up, due to COVID-19 restrictions in place and the uncertainty of the future we have decided to postpone the AGM until 2021, when hopefully we will have a clearer picture of the future and how rehearsals may be able to resume.  This has been agreed with the Charity Commission and will not hinder our charity status.

All current committee members have agreed to stay on until the AGM can formally take place.

Hope that you are all keeping busy and please keep an eye on our website  for any updates.

Best wishes
Natasha Free
Felixstowe Musical Theatre Secretary
